Can we give all we have to live on?

Reflection

Jesus praises a woman who gives all she has to live on to God.  That level of giving challenges us.  We know we should give our time, our talent and our money to the church.  There’s the challenge of 10%.  That’s a lot, but nothing in comparison to giving all we have to live on.  I admit that I don’t see myself going as far as that woman, but I’m challenged to do more.

A Widow's Offering
(Mark 12.41-44)

 
21 Jesus looked up and saw some rich people tossing their gifts into the offering box.   ²He also saw a poor widow putting in two pennies.   ³And he said, "I tell you that this poor woman has put in more than all the others.   ⁴Everyone else gave what they didn't need. But she is very poor and gave everything she had."

Prayer

Lord, your challenge to me is great.  You ask me to have great faith in your love for me and in your ability to take care of me despite my fears on insecurity. Please help me to grow in my surrender to you.  Amen.
