Sometimes
we can become overwhelmed by the important things
that other people do in our world. The TV offers us heroes
and even “idols.” Sports players gain our admiration
by the way they kick, hit or dunk balls. And then we
look at our lives. We seem so ordinary if
not boring.
Then
Jesus talks about the importance of the mustard seed
– the smallest of seeds is significant because it
opens to become a large bushthat becomes home to
the birds. If we do well the little things of life,
God takes notice and will make them blossom to
greatness.
Scripture
Matthew 13, 32-33
He proposed another parable to
them. "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed
that a person took and sowed in a field.
It is the smallest of all the
seeds, yet when full-grown it is the largest of
plants. It becomes a large bush, and the 'birds of
the sky come and dwell in its branches.'"
He spoke to them another parable.
"The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman
took and mixed with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch was leavened."
A Prayer
Lord,
help me when I feel insignificant. There seem to be so
many people doing great things in life.Help me know that you
care about the seemingly insignificant things in
life. You love me.You will be glorified
when I do well the “now” things in my life.
Amen
