If Jesus says the Father is greater than he,
then do we doubt the divinity of Jesus? No, Jesus is
showing the depth of his love for the Father. Like
any lover, he wants to direct people to his Father
rather than to himself. In this selfless love we
have an insight into the Trinity. There is a
beautiful interaction between the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit.
14
He asked him, "Which ones?" And Jesus replied, "
'You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery;
you shall not steal; you shall not bear false
witness;
Jesus said to him, "If you
wish to be perfect, 16
go, sell what you have and give to (the) poor, and
you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow
me."
When the young man heard this
statement, he went away sad, for he had many
possessions.
Prayer
Lord, my God, you have
revealed yourself as one but three persons.
This is hard
to understand. Today you give me an insight
into the relationship between the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit. You love each other. Somehow you
have drawn me into this life and love. Help me
to grow closer and closer to you.
Amen.
